How to Make Homemade Whipped Cream Like Grandma

August 23, 2026 by Cherry

There’s nothing like homemade whipped cream, and once you learn the right technique, you’ll never go back to the tub from the store. I remember watching my grandmother make this by hand, and while I’ll admit I’ve traded her whisk for a stand mixer, the result is just as good.

The secret really is in the texture. If you’ve ever ended up with a bowl of butter instead of fluffy whipped cream, you know exactly what I mean! It comes down to a few simple things: cold cream, the right speed, and knowing when to stop.

In this video, I walk you through making whipped cream with a stand mixer and just a few basic ingredients, so you get that perfect texture every single time.

Watch the video below to see exactly how I do it!
